Behind the Scenes: How Every Sea Breeze Boutique Design Comes to Life

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at an independent boutique? Every design at The Sea Breeze Boutique begins with an idea inspired by sunshine, the sea and the little moments that make life brighter. Today, I'd love to show you how those ideas become the products you see on my site.

I’m Lainey (The Life Genie), and this post is a peek behind the scenes at how each collection comes to life - from the first spark of an idea to the final product you see in my shop.

Designs made by me

Some of my favourite items start as a mood: a sunset palette, a beach walk, a quote that lifts your energy, or that carefree holiday feeling you want to bottle up and keep.

• I sketch and refine the concept until it feels ‘Sea Breeze’ - bright, warm, and uplifting.

• I choose colours and typography that feel sun-soaked and easy to wear or display.

• I test how the design looks across different products so it stays crisp, balanced, and joyful.

• I only keep the designs that feel like they’ll genuinely brighten someone’s day.

• Believe it or not, most of the items started out as designs I created for myself, or even as gifts I had designed for my wonderful boyfriend.

Every design goes through several versions before it reaches the boutique. Sometimes I'll adjust colours and typography dozens of times until it feels just right. If it doesn't make me smile, it doesn't make the collection. The goal is always the same: create something that feels like a tiny reset - a reminder to breathe, smile, and live a brighter life.

Products I hand-pick (and why)

The garments themselves aren't manufactured by me - but everything is chosen by me. I’m picky (in the best possible way) so if it doesn’t fit the vibe, the quality, or the feel-good mission, it doesn’t make it onto the site.

I only select items I'd genuinely be happy to wear or give as a gift myself.
